European Tour 2009

Tuesday night - midnight
We arrived in London about 3:30pm. We left York at 8:00 this morning in a chilly heavy fog. We
arrived in Sherwood Forest at 9:30 to find it quite pleasant. Liz gave us a nice background on
the Robin Hood myths and had the girls remain quiet while they listened to the sounds of the
forest. We had no idea that 27 girls could actually remain silent for more than 2 minutes. Who'd
of thought? Anyway we heard many birds singing their spring songs. Then we continued to London
with a stop at a Marks and Spencers for lunch. It was about 55-60 degrees when we arrived in
London. After checking in to the hotel, we walked to a few museums where the girls haad the
choice of visiting the Natural history or Victoria and Albert Museums. We had only an hour so it
was not for too long. Then after a walk back to the hotel, we walked to a pub for dinner. After
dinner we walked around the most posh part of London where Liz would only let us speak quietly
and with British accents. Unfortunately we did not do too well on that!!! 27 walking girls are
just not quiet. We arrived back at our hotel at 9:30 this evening. the girls had free time until
lights out at 11:00 (which turned out to be 11:30). And so now we are off to bed too.
Tomorrow we shall have our city tour, Tower of London Tour and Windsor Castle Tour. After dinner
we shall see a play.
Our girls with colds seem to be improving. Thank you all for your prayers.

Monday night- 11:15pm
We are in York. We came by way of motor coach down to Haddon on the Wall where we actually
walked on some of Hadrian's wall built 1900 years ago. We also visited a church that was built
about 1500 years ago. Those who were not snoozing on the bus ride saw lots of sheep and Scottish
countryside. When we arrived in York a little past 3:00pm, we went directly to the York Minster
Cathedral after which, We had 45 minutes of time to walk around York before walking on the city
walls of York and arriving at our hotel. We had a very nice dinner in the hotel with choices of
roast beef with yorkshire pudding, salmon or cannoli. Plus a very lovely dessert of bread
pudding with chocolate or a meringe and fruit plate. After dinner we had a ghost walk in the
dark of York. It was much more of a history of York with gruesome history thrown in. It was very
interesting and nice to see more of the city that we shall be leaving so early in the morning.
Tomorrow we depart at 8:00am for London. We shall be stopping at Sherwood Forest (not
Nottingham) and then a stop for lunch. Plan is to arrive in London at 3:00pm.
Please continue to pray for us. We have a few students with sniffles and general tiredness.

Saturday Night 11:05pm
Good Evening Everyone.
We had a very eventful day. City tour this morning. Tour of the Castle. Lunch and Shopping. Then
traveling to glasgow. We just returned from our first concert. It was marvelous. The girls
really sang beautifully. The Church and it's parishioners were so kind to us. We had a nice
reception with many sweets including homebaked scotish shortbread. There were about 60 people in
attendance. The part of Glasgow that we saw was more residential than we expected. The city of
Glasgow is very industrial. We had rehearsal at the Church then walked to dinner. Followed by
CAB RIDES back to the Church - courtesy of ASIC/Encore Tours. Thank you very much to them. Then
they sang angelically then we had the reception, then we came home. Exhausted we hope.
tomorrow morningis 6:30 wake up call. 8:20 leave for the St. Giles Church, service at 10:30.
Then lunch provided by the Church. Then to the top of Arthur's Seat!!
Happy Easter to you all. Thank you for keeping us in your prayers.

Saturday Morning - Hello All.
We arrived safe and sound. The first time ever - an airlines seated us all together on the
plane. that was fabulous. We spent time walking around Edinburgh and climbed up and down 287
stairs to the top of the Scott Monument. From there we were able to get wonderful views of the
whole city. Mr. Macur-Brousil made the trek up there twice! Our hotel is very nice. It is
centrally located, with large, clean rooms. We had a nice dinner at the hotel with choices of
salmon, chicken or vegetarian. This morning everyone was down to breakfast by 7:30am. We are off
for a city tour on a bus this morning. Ending at 11:00 at the castle for our tour there. Then we
have lunch on our own. At 2:30 we leave for Glasgow where we will have rehearsal, dinner and
then our first concert. The church there is also giving us a nice reception afterward. Then back
tonight by about 9:00. We will contact you again this evening.
Everyone is healthy and well rested after an exhausting first day and then some.
