Mr. Hiett earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Theory and
Composition from Trinity College, Deerfield Illinois. He received his
Masters of Music Education degree from Northern Illinois University.
This is his 14th year teaching and 10th year at Regina.
David Hiett is a recipient of the 2006 Catholic Archdiocese "Heart of
the School" award. He has twice been nominated for the "Golden Apple"
Teacher Award,and twice for the "Heart of the School" Award and once for the
DisneyHand teacher award.
Mr Hiett has been involved in music all his life. He has been the Music
Director and Organist at the Church of the Covenants in Lake Forest for over
35 years. Mr Hiett has one son, who also teaches music, and three Regina
Alumni daughters.
David is active as an adjudicator for IGSMA and IHSA music competitions.
He is actively involved in the American Choral Directors Association and is
currently Treasurer for The North Shore Chapter of the American Guild of
Organists.
During the summer of 2008 Mr Hiett attended a week long String Educators
Seminar, a Brass/Band educators conference and a week long Voice Care
Network training session.
