Textbook: Algebra 1,
Integrations, Applications, Connections, Glencoe, 2001
Supplies: Spiral
notebook (for Math only), Pencils, Graph Paper(4 or 5 squares per inch), Red
Pen, , Ruler with inches and centimeters, Scientific Calculator (TI 84+),
Folder for loose math papers
Grading
Policy:
85% Tests and Quizzes
- No extended time unless
qualified by your counselor.
- If absent the day of a test or
quiz, expect to make it up the day that you return to school. Being absent the
day before a scheduled test or quiz does NOT excuse the student from taking
that test or quiz.
- Calculator borrowing or sharing is
prohibited on test days. Be sure to have yours daily.
- Tests will usually be on a single
chapter’s topics.
- Quizzes may be on daily homework or
sections.
- The lowest grade will be dropped
each quarter.
15% Homework
- Homework will be assigned most
school days.
- All math work is to be done in
pencil.
- Doing your homework will greatly
increase your chances for success on tests and quizzes.
- Assignments will be checked in
daily. To receive credit, all work must be shown. Papers are considered late
if I receive them any time after they are “checked in” class.
- Each assignment is worth 2 points.
You may make up an assignment by turning it in (on loose leaf) the next day
for 1 point. Points will be totaled at the end of each quarter and a percent
will be calculated.
- Your problems should be corrected
in red ink because an important part of the learning process is knowing where
you made your mistakes. If a figure or drawing is included in a problem, the
picture should also be drawn in your homework using a straightedge.
Other Items
* Anyone who is academically
dishonest will receive a failing grade of 0% on the paper. Talking during an
assessment, having open papers in or around your desk during as assessment,
looking at another’ s work, and
copying homework are all forms of cheating.
* Sharpen pencils and use the
washroom before class.
* Refrain from eating or drinking in
class.
*The semester exam is 20% of the
semester grade, and each quarter grade is 40%. Repeated unexcused absences
will lower your grade.
* Please do not leave garbage,
papers, etc. in the desks. You are not the only one who needs to use them.
*I am available for extra help before
and after school, in Room 308. The Math department also has a peer tutoring
program. Sr. Cora is available before and after school in 201B.
* If you are purchasing a new TI
graphing calculator, please bring the proof of purchase in to me. The school
can use them to get TI technology merchandise free.
