Drawing & Painting I&II

Course Description/Objectives:
Drawing & Painting I concentrates on developing basic drawing 
techniques in pencil, pastel (oil & chalk) and charcoal with an 
emphasis on proportion, scale, perspective and composition as well 
as other elements and principles of Art/Design. Students will also 
be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill of various painting 
mediums, including Acrylics, Oil and Watercolor. This course will 
also help students gain an appreciation for and understanding of 
various forms of art present in their lives as well as other 
cultures by studying various artists.  Students will also gain 
experience in the critiquing process � by assessing and articulating 
thoughts about their own work as well as others in a thoughtful and 
constructive manner.

Course Description/Objectives:
Drawing & Painting II is intended to provide individual 
opportunities for students to further develop their skills in 
painting and drawing.  This class is organized to provide more 
independent learning opportunities for the students so that they may 
enhance specific skills as set forth by the student and the 
instructor.  Students will develop a better understanding and eye 
for color relationships and theory, spatial and compositional 
relationships as well as conceptual ideas that will benefit them in 
their future artistic and professional endeavors. Students will also 
gain more experience in the critiquing process � particularly by 
self-assessment - utilizing their ability to critique in a 
thoughtful, productive and constructive manner.
