Winter Assignment for Second Semester, January 2009:

 

Dear Students:  For this second semester, I would like to expand the focus of College Writing to include considerable personal writing, as well as the argumentative essays.

 

For our first day of class, Tuesday, January 20, 2009, please bring in an autobiographical statement of at least five typed pages, double spaced.  The focus of this paper is “What influences have shaped you, the person you are today. “ Be as honest as possible and include only what you consider to be significant in your life.  This writing does not need to be a chorological approach, but a thematic examination of those forces that have had the greatest influence upon you.

 

Please note that there are two required books for College Writing: The Bedford Handbook, Seventh Edition and Patterns in College Writing, Tenth Edition.
