Sketchbook Assignments�
Will be given for your sketchbook on a regular basis. If there is a week
without a specific given assignment - you should use this to collect and
record your creative ideas.
Sketchbook assignments are to be completed outside of class unless you finish
a project early and have time to work on them in class. Although I will be
giving you sketchbook assignments often throughout the semester � you will
also be expected to use your sketchbooks as a visual journal.
What is a Visual Journal?
A visual journal is where you can combine written thoughts, observations,
ideas, etc�with visual elements (collage, magazine/newspaper clippings,
found or original graphics/sketches) to express yourself. I am not asking
for anything specific � I just want you to start to become aware of things
around you --- I want you to become ACTIVE OBSERVERS of the art, media,
communications and the environment in which you live.
There are no rules (just guidelines) --- be creative, be original, be
yourself.This book is intended to also tell me about you -- If someone where
to pick up this book � they should be able to get a sense of who you are�
