I feel it is important for students to know the impact Physical Education
can have on their lives and health decisions.
My goal is to have my students enjoy P.E. and to find activites and/or
sports that they can participate through out their lives. In my classes-
I stress the value of leadership and life skills.
I hope my students come out of my class feeling accomplished, happy and
successful.
The Regina Dominican Physical Education Department believes in a physical
educational program that is capable of helping young women incorporate
physical activity into their life-styles.
The Physical Education Program tries to work towards the development of the
physically educated person:
*has learned skills necessary to perform a variety of physical activities
*is physically fit
*does participate regularly in physical activity
*knows the implications of and the benefits from involvement in physical
activities
*values physical activity and its contribution to a healthy lifestyle
Physical Education is a learning process that focuses on the increase of
knowledge. Physical education instructors have the responsibility to
develop and teach from a systematically organized curriculum.
Physical Education focuses on affecting attitudes and behaviors relative to
physical activities, including fitness activities, sports, games, and
dance. When the young women leave the physical education environment, they
should have a good feeling about physical activity and a desire to return
for more. They should also be able to make sound healthy fitness decisions
that will serve them for their lifetime, knowing the benefits and
consequences of those decisions.
The Physical Education Department also tries to follow The National
Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) basic content standards.
