Here is an overview of what is inside our STAR:
Manilla Envelope with Clasp:
Money and Excuses
This is where you should put all money to be brought to school (field trips,
lunch, book orders) so it doesn't get "lost" in the bottom of the backpack.
This is also a good place to put doctor's notes for excused absences.
Students should take this money out once at school to turn in to the teacher.
First Clear Sleeve:
Newsletter / Daily Schedule
In the first clear sleeve, you will find a copy of our weekly Fridge Facts
newsletter. This newsletter will include activities, skills to be taught,
and other important classroom information. Feel free to take out the Fridge
Facts and post them on your Fridge at home for easy viewing! On the
backside of this sleeve, you will find our daily classroom schedule. Please
note our daily schedule is subject to change without notice.
Second Clear Sleeve:
Fluency Passage/Lunch Menu
In the second clear sleeve you will find a fluency passage. Students will
get a passage that they need to practice reading fluently every night. They
want to read it at a good rate, with good expression, and no errors. On
Friday the students will read this passage to Miss G. and a grade will be
recorded.
Opposite the passage, you will find the monthly district lunch menu. Note
that the menu may change without notice occasionally.
Third Clear Sleeve:
Spelling List/Class Roster
In the third clear sleeve you will find our spelling list. This can help
with homework and in studying nightly for the Friday test. There is no
excuse for not knowing these words! Behind the spelling list is our class
roster.
SMART Book
Student’s SMART Books will be kept inside their S.T.A.R. Binder. It is
important that students write down their homework every night. Homework
should be completed nightly. Once homework is completed, the SMART book
should be signed by a parent. This is a great spot to put notes for Miss G.
First Pocket Folder:
Classwork/Homework Folder
On the left side of this folder is classwork. These are papers that have
been worked on in class and are no longer needed. This folder should be
emptied nightly.
On the left side you will find homework papers. These papers need to be
completed each night and returned to school in the same pocket the following
day. Please review homework with your child for careless mistakes Thank you!
Second Pocket Folder:
Friday Folder
Your child's graded work will come home in this folder. After you
have "oooed and aahhed" over your child's work, I'm sure you will want to
hang it on the refrigerator! ENJOY! This work should be taken out,
reviewed with your child, and kept at home. This Folder should be signed
after work is taken out and reviewed with your child. Notes from
school/class will also be included in this folder as usual.
Thanks for your help in getting students organized!!
