2009 RMS Track Information
5/17/09
We would like to congratulate all athletes that participated in the IESA Sectional Track Meet. We had many strong performances--including a
large number of personal best performances. We had eight athletes qualify for the upcoming IESA State Track Meet this weekend. There will be
practice for those athletes on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. There is no practice on Monday. All athletes that did not qualify should wash
and return their uniforms to Coach Montalbano (girls) and Coach Knipp (boys) as soon as possible. At the conclusion of the season, there will be
an after-school pizza party for all track athletes. Awards for participation will be distributed at this party. An announcement will be made and
posted later this week regarding the upcoming pizza party.
5/15/09
We would like to remind all athletes and parents that the athletes participating in tomorrow's IESA Sectional Meet need to be at RMS by 7:15.
The bus will depart promptly at 7:15. Please be sure to double-check that you have everything needed for the meet--uniform, sweats, spikes,
etc. In the event that an athlete qualifies for the IESA State Meet, information will be provided to the athlete and his or her family at tomorrow's
meet.
5/6/09
Tomorrow's Conference Meet will be held at Freeport High School's Pretzel Bowl, which is located on Empire Street in Freeport. The meet is
scheduled to begin at 3:!5 (boys' field events) and 3:45 (girls' running events). If you plan to take your child home from the meet, it is
imperative that he or she be signed out. After signing out your child, be sure to have them return the sign-out sheet to one of the coaches. At
the last away meet, the sign-out sheet was misplaced in the stands. Consequently, we had difficulty taking attendance on the return trip home.
We would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation with this matter.
5/6/09 I M P O R T A N T
As many of you are already aware, school will be back in session tomorrow, Thursday, May 7th. We were able to contact Freeport Middle School
today, and they have willingly allowed us to reenter the Conference Meet tomorrow. Even though every athlete is not participating in this meet
(limited-entry), It is very important for all athletes to bring their uniforms, etc. to school tomorrow morning. The events will be posted this
afternoon at the west entrance near the gymnasium and will remain posted throughout the day tomorrow. If an athlete is not participating in
tomorrow's meet, they will not travel with the team to Freeport. All athletes should report to practice on Friday from 3:30-5:00 (not on the
schedule). We will be traveling to Freeport next Monday, May 11th for another meet in which all athletes will participate. These entries will be
posted Friday at practice.

With recent school closure, many parents and athletes have had questions regarding the status of
track. Unfortunately, at this point, all schools have been closed until further notice. As a
result, all school-related activities have been cancelled or postponed until a collective
decision can be made to resume school. At this point, it appears as though we will not be in
session to participate in this week's Conference Meet. Fortunately, this meet has no bearing on
the upcoming IESA Sectional Meet. While we can only speculate at this time as to when school
and track will resume, we would like to encourage athletes to continue to workout independently
to minimize any regression over this unplanned break. We are looking forward to resuming track
as soon as safely possible and appreciate everyone's patience during this challenging time.
4/26/09
Due to a scheduling conflict, the meet that was rescheduled for May 4th has been cancelled. At
this point, it does not appear that the meet will be rescheduled again. If it is rescheduled,
we will notify the athletes as soon as possible. We would like to thank the additional parents
who graciously volunteered to help at our remaining home meets. We are still in need a few
volunteers. Feel free to send us and email or to touch base with us prior to the start of the
meets on Tuesday and Thursday.
4/21/09
Tonight's track meet has been canceled due to the weather. It has been rescheduled for Monday
May 4th. If you are able to volunteer for the meet, please email one of the coaches. We still
need volunteers for next Tuesday and Thursday's home track meets. If you are able to help at
either meet, please email one of the coaches. Remember that no experience is required, and we
desperately need the help.
3/19/09
The form for the track sweats is due on Friday March 20th. You can give the form and money to
coach Knipp, or take it directly to American Bell.
The form for the Hononegah Meet is due on Monday March 30th. You may pay in cash or checks can
be made out to Hononegah Booster Club-Boys CC. The cost is $6.00.
We still need volunteers for all of our home meets, if you are able to help please contact one of
the coaches.
There is a mistake in the calendar we passed out at the parent meet. The Freeport meet is on May
11th not May 4th as listed in the month of May. It is correct on the track meet schedule.
