About The School Social Worker

This is my fifth year at Spring Wood Middle School. I received my
undergraduate degree in social work from Illinois State University, and my
Master's degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a
specialization in school social work. I enjoy working with children and
watching them succeed.

What We Do

In the State of Illinois, the primary responsibility of the school social
worker is to participate in the evaluation process to determine if a student
is eligible for special education services and to provide counseling services
to students with an Individual Education Plan.

Other aspects of being a school social worker include:

-providing crisis intervention services

-providing individual and small group counseling services during the school
day, as the schedule allows, for regular education student with concerns such
as: anger management, stress management, anxiety, social skills, and self-
esteem.
