November
Dear Parents and Students,
It's November! Hard to believe. Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on
November 24th. The children will have a half day of school. I will be
looking forward to meeting with you.
A quick glimpse at what we've been doing:
Grade 6- We finished our unit on Ancient Egypt and are presently learnign
about Greece. Rome is next, and at that time a report will be assigned from
each period of study. More info. will follow.
Grade 7- We are still studying about the 13 colonies, but our studies will
take us to the unrest in the colonies and our final fight for independence.
The Revolutionary War is always interesting!
Grade 8- We just started our studies about the US involvement in
imperialism. We finished the Spanish/American War and will begin World War I
towards the beginning of the month.
On to Thanksgiving - I found this "prayer" years ago and use it with my
family every year. I thought I'd share it with you.
Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings each morning,
Thank you, Lord, that I can hear. There are those who are deaf.
Even though I keep my eyes tightly closed against the morning lights as long
as possible,
Thank you, Lord, that I can see. There are many who are blind.
Even though I huddle in my bed and put off the physical effort of rising,
Thank you, Lord, that I have the strength to rise. There are many who are
bedridden.
Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, when socks are lost, toast is
burned, tempers are short,
Thank you, Lord, for my family. There are many who are lonely.
Even though our breakfast table never looks like the pictures in the ladies'
magazine, and the menu is at times unbalanced,
Thank you, Lord, for the food we have. There are many who are hungry.
Even though the routine of my job is often frustrating,
Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to work. There are many who have no
work.
Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to day, and wish my modest
circumstances were not so quite so modest,
Thank you, Lord, for the gift of life.
Have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!
Mrs. Jula
