I graduated from Chicago State University. I started teaching in 1970 (it's
not that long ago). I'm married and have three children, who are also
married (thank goodness). I'm happy to say that I have one grandson and one
granddaughter! I've taught for 31 years, 26 of these have been
at St. Agnes. I am certified with the State of Illinois to teach grades
K-9.
Currently, I teach Grade 5-English and Grades 6,7 and 8 Social Studies. I
also teach Grade 7 Religion and Vocabulary.
I really enjoy teaching Social Studies. It is an opportunity for me to share
some of the history of our world, especially that of the United States.
Some of the goals are for the children to know how we came to be and where
we are now. To know the historical roles so many people played to accomplish
what we have today.
Not only will they learn the history of our country, but also about present-
day government. Most importantly, the knowledge that we are a responsible
people who practice good citizenship. They will know that their input can
and will make a difference in our society. The students need to be involved
in service and current events to see how they affect us and the rest of the
world. They will learn that someday they will have the responsibility to
continue what our ancestors began.
