Week of Nov.30, 2009
Grade 4 Mrs. Olley's Homeroom:
Your child may bring a healthy snack daily to my class. Please make sure that
it is finger-food and not a spoon & fork situation. Also, water bottles are
allowed.
Spelling: Unit 16. This unit covers words with final long e sounds Pgs.108-113
The workbook pages are checked on Thursdays - Sentences on Tuesdays. (see
below)
Every Tuesday I will check their composition books for ten spelling sentences.
The sentences can be on any ten words, in cursive with the words underlined.
Please be aware - and check for this assignment each week. When we do not
have class on Mondays, the sentences will be due on Wednesdays.Please note
that some of the class is now doing enrichment word lists, they will need to
use these words in their sentences.
Reading: Dream Wolf Pgs 209-220 . Please read and review. Vocab will be
introduced in class. Orally reading scores will be given weekly, please be
prepared to read orally. I will be grading for:
fluency, articulation, inflection & comprehension of materials. Please sign
your child's planner every Monday and Thursday - they are suppose to read
outloud for oral reading points. Also, they should review the vocab. that I
assign, they are quizzed on it!
Religion: Chapter 13 Advent pgs 155-158 Study Guide will be sent
home along with the Religion book to review Chapter 13. I will give them the
review quiz next week due to all of the special events during this week.
English Gr 4: Unit 3 - Verbs Pgs 110-113 Lessons 7 & 8 This is on Has, Have &
Had and Irregular Verbs. There will be a quiz on Thursday 12/3.
Every Wednesday we have reteach and review on the weekly lessons.These
lessons can be reviewed on-line at my web page link, or the books can go home
daily.
English Gr 3: Unit 3 - Verbs Pgs 112-115 Lessons 7 & 8. The special verb "be"
and Helping Verbs: Has & Have.
There will be a quiz on Thursday 12/3. Books will be sent home daily. See
web-site link for on-line review, or use extra practice located at the end of
the Unit in your child's English book.
English Gr 2: Unit 5 Intro. to Verbs. Lessons 1 & 2 Intro to Verbs and using
Present Tense Verbs. pgs 163 - 166
There will be a test on Thursday 12/3
**Parents: Books go home Monday thru Wednesday and are sent with your child
from English class - please be sure your child has theirs and is bringing it
back to school everyday.

Quizzes will be a routine part of English Class. It helps me to see if they
are retaining information leading up to the Unit Test. Quizzes may be given
at any time as a tool to evaluate a student's retention of materials taught.
