How often is homework given in language arts classes?

Most practice lessons are completed in class time. However, there is usually
one homework assignment a week in English class. Homework is necessary to
practice the skills learned.

What is DOL?

DOL refers to our daily oral language activity. Every day, all language arts
classes practice editing skills on 2 sentences. At the end of the week,
students are to copy the 10 corrected sentences from the week on loose leaf
and hand them in on Monday. This assignment is given EVERY WEEK. There is no
reason why every student can not get 10 points for the activity since we
correct the sentences in class, and they are expected to correct the
sentences in their class notebooks.

The weekly DOL activity is counted as a quiz grade and corrections are allowed
in order to improve scores.

Students who complete the first 6 DOL activities in the quarter with no errors
will be exempt from any further DOL assignment in that quarter.
