Parents,
The 7th grade class is working on another comparison paper. The topic of this
paper is Christmas customs. Each student is researching the customs of two
different countries; the information will then be put into essay form. The
suggested websites can be found on the school's homepage. A link to that page
has been posted on this site's LINKS page.
The 6th grade class is moving steadily through the parts of speech. All
the "easy" ones will be completed by Christmas, just in time for the 2nd
quarter report cards. The third quarter will bring some challenging work, but
the class is up to it. They have a good grasp of the basics.
The 8th grade class is thinking ahead also, but their thoughts are focused on
their future careers. They have begun a career project which involves some
self-assessement of skills and interests. Each student will complete an
interest inventory test which will provide suggested career paths. After
reviewing the suggestions, students will choose and research a career. Their
information will be presented in the form of a powerpoint presentation. The
final activity is a real life skill - budgeting and living within their
means. For more information on the project or to review the activities with
your student, a link is provided on LINKS page of this site. The career site
also provides information to parents regarding financing college education.
The class is working on a service project. We are provided gift bags for
residents of a nursing facility. We are collecting donations of cards and
small wrapped Christmas candy. We provide bags for 40 residents.
