December 18, 2009 ALL LANGUAGE ARTS STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE THE DOL ACTIVITY ON DRAWING FOR MONDAY, JANUARY 4, 2010. Grade 7 language arts - Students are now able to score and then correct their papers on their own. I no longer need to put their work back in progress. Students may continue to edit all 2nd quarter essays. BOOK REPORT FORM TITLE 1. What is the title of the book? 2. Is it appropriate for the book? Why? 3. Give an original title and explain why it fits the story. SETTING 1. When did the story take place? 2. Where did the story take place? 3. How did the setting influence the events in the story? Give evidence from the book. 4. Would a different setting work as well for the story? Explain your position. PLOT 1. What is the conflict of the story? 2. How does the conflict lead to a change in the characters’ lives? 3. Who is the antagonist? 4. Who is the protagonist? 5. What is the sequence of events? 6. Was the conflict resolved? How? 7. Was the resolution believable? Why or why not? CHARACTERIZATION 1. Who are the main characters? Briefly describe them and their character traits. Give examples of what they did or said in the story that illustrates their character traits. 2. How did the characters change in the story? Give evidence from the story to explain the changes that occur. 3. What relationships did the characters have that changed during the story? Why did the change occur? THEME 1. What is the message or lesson taught by the story? Give evidence to explain the message. 2. How does the message or lesson apply to your life today? Give an example to explain. AUTHOR 1. Who is the author? 2. List other works the author has written. 3. Would you recommend any changes in the book? What are they? Why would you make these changes? BOOK REPORTS ARE TO BE WRITEN IN PARAGRAPH FORM. ALL QUESTIONS ABOVE MUST BE ANSWERED IN FULL SENTENCES.
