If you did not send supplies in with your child this week, please send them in next week: a supply of pencils and erasers, crayons (24 pack only), and glue sticks.  Any extra supplies will be stored with your child's name and he will be able to get what he needs at any time.  Also, a roll of paper towels, a box of tissue, container of disinfectant wipes and a small hand sanitizer would be appreciated from each child to get us through until June.  Thank you to everyone who has sent those items in already!

In the Friday folder is a sheet with the 2 Communion prayers....please help your child memorize them as I will start testing them in the next few weeks.  Also, in your child's Home Folder (to be kept in the folder so they have access to it both at home and in school) is the Steps to the Mass sheet.  Flashcards are in the yellow envelope and the first quiz (on steps 1 through 12) will begin next week.

Tuesday, September 4th

No homework....but children were asked to read, out loud to someone at home, Because of You, and discuss what each page means.  We have talked about the story and how it applies to their lives, so they should be able to discuss it at home.

Wednesday, August 29th ***Please check calendar....important dates for Reconcilation/Communion just added!

Religion - on inside page, there is a sticker with the web address for Blest Are We.  As you follow the directions, you will be able to pull up practice tests for each of our chapters.  Taking these tests is not mandatory....but they do help with studying.  Also, go through each page of chapter 1 with your child, talk about the pictures and what they have written in their book.  We go through everything in class.  We will have a practice test (written) tomorrow, just so the children get familiar with how they will be tested in Religion.

Here's a heads-up -- our next chapter talks about Baptism.  A sheet will be sent home soon asking for baptismal info (date, godparents, picture [if possible])....I always try to give you some notice when it comes to finding these things (I always appreciated when my kids' teachers gave me ample warning, so I'm passing it on to you) :)

Tuesday, August 28th
No homework.....but here's what we're working on in ...
...Religion - we are people of God.  We will be attending Mass every Tuesday morning;
...Reading - we defined the vocabulary for our story "Because of You".  Starting next week, every child should be reading the assigned story out loud to someone at home (reader comes home every night);
...Writing - we created an idea page for the people in our family and will begin writing this week;
...Grammar - sentences and personal narratives;
...Math - time to the hour, and will begin addition facts next week;
...Social Studies - our government.  We watched Schoolhouse Rock today to get an idea of all the topics we will be discussing, along with election information.

LOTS of learning going on, even though we're in the tropics!
