Do I have to send for my child's homework if he is absent for only one day?
Your child may get homework and makeup work in school when he
returns. Relax and concentrate on getting well! It would be a
good idea to call for homework if your child will be absent for
more than a day or two.
What should my child wear for first communion?
Boys can wear a suit or nice shirt and tie and pants. Any color
is appropriate, although most boys wear black, dark blue, or
white. Girls wear a dress, knee length or longer, usually
white. Many girls wear a white veil, but it is not required.
Gloves, purses, rosaries, etc, can be used for First Communion
pictures, but should not be held in church, as they distract the
children from full participation in the Mass
Why doesn't my child bring home a spellling list every every week?
There are so many ways to access the list; it is simply a waste
of paper to send a list every week. You can find the list in the
spelling book, which is brought home every Monday - Thursday.
The lists can also be found at SpellingCity.com. Click on "Find
a List", then "Illinois". Click on "Chicago", then "S" and find
St. Ferdinand. Finally, click on my name. The stories are listed
in alphabetical order, so you will need to know the title of the
story for the week. This shouldn't be a problem, since the
children will read the stories for homework. The Spellling City
site is really a lot of fun!
Can I send treats for my child's birthday or half-birthday?
The children enjoy treats on birthdays, but it's best to keep it
simple. We'll celebrate with the birthday child in class, but
the treats will be eaten at lunch, so there's not a lot of time
to serve or clean up after the treats.
What is third grade writing paper?
Third grade writing paper looks almost like loose leaf, but it
has an extra dotted line between the solid lines. It is taller
(11 inches) than it is wide (81/2 inches).
