Announcements

Dear Parents,

Last week our class learned about the lifecycle of a frog and the animals that live in ponds. In religion, children learned about Joseph and his dreams. We also reviewed the fractions one-half, one-third and one-fourth in math. Students began writing their “School Memories” books and were busy practicing for the Spring Show.

The theme for this week is ocean animals. Students will learn the names of different sea animals, what they eat, and about their lifecycles. For Show-and-Tell on Friday, please have your child bring in something related to ocean animals to share. In religion, we will be learning the story of David and Goliath.

In math this week, we will practice finding sums of groups of coins, determine which coins we need to buy different items, and review how to tell time to the half-hour and quarter-hour. In writing, we will create lists of questions to ask the current first graders in order to help the Kindergarteners prepare for next year. We will also continue to work on our “School Memories” books. The sight words for the week are “girl” and “boy”.

Tomorrow our class will be going to see the fifth grade’s Wax Museum. In order to make the wax characters “come alive”, students will need to deposit a coin in the characters’ jars. All money collected will be donated to the Friends of the Orphans. Please have your child bring a few coins tomorrow for the museum.

Please note that the PreK4 and Kindergarten Spring Show is this Wednesday, May 23rd at 1:45pm. Siblings may attend the show, but they must sit with their parents. Also, students may come to school dressed-up. However, if they do dress out-of-uniform, they may not wear jeans, t-shirts, or flip-flops.

Next Friday, June 1st, we will be celebrating summer birthdays in the afternoon. If your child has a birthday that is in the summer and you would like to help with the celebration, please contact me.

Please remember that our school picnic will be at Wrightwood Park on June 4th. Students should wear their gym uniforms, and a pizza lunch will be provided for all students. Children must be signed-out and picked-up from the park either before or at dismissal time. Students in EDP will be walked back to the school. All parents are welcome to the picnic, but all people who attend the picnic must be VIRTUS trained.

Please see below a note from Madame Peteau:

This coming week, the students will learn the alphabet in French. They are going to use the words that they know to work on the pronunciation of each letter. We will also learn the song of the French alphabet that you can listen to on my teacher website.
