Will my child have homework?

Yes, but nothing too intense! We will be completing family
projects. On other occasions, sheets will go home with students
so that they can practice skills that we are learning in the
classroom.

What should my child bring to school every day?

Students need to bring a backpack that is large enough to hold
their school folder. I will provide a pocket folder that will
go home daily with your child. It will have notes from the
office, completed work, and homework. Please check it daily. Your
child will also need to bring a lunch or order a school lunch.

*Please do not allow your child to bring in toys from home unless
they are items that are for Show and Tell.

Will my child go outside?

If the weather permits we will go to Clover Park after lunch.
Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the
weather.

Can I volunteer?

I would love to have parents volunteer. There will be many
opportunities throughout the year for you to come help in class. I
will have a sign-up sheet for guest readers, and the room parents
will inform you of class party opportunities.

How do we celebrate birthdays in Kindergarten?

If you would like to bring in a store bought treat on your child’s
birthday, please contact me in advance. As a school community,
we are celebrating birthdays in a healthier fashion. While students
may continue to bring in treats, such as cookies, to celebrate their
birthday, families who send in treats must place each treat in a bag.
The treats will be passed out at the end of the day to be enjoyed at home.
This change in policy provides parents with greater awareness and control
over their children's sugar intake and keeps the classroom a little calmer.
If families would like to provide a non-food treat, we are encouraging children
to donate a favorite book to the classroom library. However, please do not replace
a food treat with goodie bags for the class.

If there are any changes, please email me or call the office so
that your child is dismissed properly.
