Dear Kindergarten Parents,
This week we will be learning about fish in our Under the Sea theme. Students have learned why scientists classify animals into different groups based on characteristics and this week we will focus on fish characteristics.
On Tuesday we will be visiting the fifth grader’s wax museum. Students may bring in coins to put in the cans next to the wax figures to make the figures ‘come to life’. Fifth grade has been learning about the street mimes in New Orleans and it will be very similar to that. All of the money collected will go to NPH, Friends of the Orphans.
Wednesday is the Spring Show! We met with our buddies today to practice. As I mentioned last Friday, students may bring in a prop supporting their favorite baseball team. The prop may be a small flag, poster and/or a hat or t-shirt. Students may come to school out of uniform if they wear dress attire. Please do not wear jeans, flip-flops or t-shirts. Also, please remember to bring a dozen cookies. If you are not able to do this, let me know as soon as possible.
In Phonics, students will learn how to recognize –ir, -ar and –er sounds. We will learn the –it and –ot word families (sit, mit, not, pot). The sight words for the week are ‘away’ and ‘little’.

A note from Madame Peteau:
This coming week, the students will learn the alphabet in French. They are going to use the words that they know to work on the pronunciation of each letter. We will also learn the song of the French alphabet that you can listen to on my teacher website.
