About the Teacher





About Mrs. Rohde

    My name is Susan Rohde,and I am thrilled to be teaching sixth and seventh
grade this year. I will be teaching sixth and seventh grade language
arts/literature, mathematics, and social studies. I will also be teaching
eigth grade religion and language arts.
    I grew up on the southwest side of Chicago where I attended St. Bede the
Venerable Elementary School. I graduated from DePaul University (Go Blue
Demons!) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce. After working in the business
field for several years, as well as raising three children, I earned a
Master’s Degree in Education(2005) and Special Education(2007)from St. Xavier
University.(Go Cougars!) I also completed the necessary coursework to earn a
middle school endorsement in mathematics and social studies.  In May 2015, I
earned an endorsement in English as a Second Language from The University of
Notre Dame (Go Fighting Irish!). 
    My teaching career began as a sixth grade classroom teacher at St. Damian
School. I then spent several years as a learning resource teacher at St.
Alexander in Palos Heights and Christ The King School in Chicago. Three years
ago, I took a position with the Office of Catholic Schools providing special
education services to students attending Catholic Schools in Chicago. Although
I loved teaching special education students, I missed having a classroom of my
     I am thrilled to be at St. Joseph. I look forward to getting to know all
my new students this year!
