Welcome to 5th Grade, Room 102. Looking forward to a great year!! We
are off to a wonderful start!
Fifth Grade is a year of so many firsts! We have officially begun the
Curriculum Project that will culminate on January 31st with our Open House
for Catholic Schools Week. We will be learning to research a topic, take
notes, and write a Research Paper.
This year our students are able to play sports for our school. Many of
our 5th graders have signed up to play Volleyball or Cross Country this
Fall. In Winter, the children will be able to sign up for Basketball. We
encourage our fifth graders to play a sport for St. Mary of Gostyn School.
After the first of the year, our students will be able to sign up to
become altar servers. What a wonderful way for them to share their faith!
Please encourage your fifth grader to become an altar server.
We are continuing our Artist of the Month program. We have been
blessed to have two of our parents come and share their love of art with our
students. We culminate this program with a field trip to The Art Institue of
Chicago.
In September, Downers Grove Township will be coming into our fifth grade
classrooms to present Life Skills. This is a week-long program dealing with
self-esteem, making good choices, and being a good friend. The Township will
be in our classrooms for one period each day.
The children are excited to become Big Buddies for our kindergarteners.
We will be meeting with our Little Buddies once a month. It is a wonderful
experience for our fifth graders. They do such a great job! They can even
remember who were their Big Buddies!!
Thank you to all of you for your prayers for my granddaughter, Abby.
Please continue to keep her in your prayers. My family will never be able to
express our gratitude for your overwhelming kindness. Saint Mary of Gostyn
School is a family. Thank you for letting us be a part of it.
