**************************************************************************

All meetings are held from 2:30-3:15 Tuesdays in Room 507, Mrs. Drabik’s room. The format for
the club is rather casual. I will be distributing study guides as well as a
sampling of questions that have been used in geography bees in the past. We
will be using the internet, maps, questions, and games to study all the aspects of the
geography of our Earth.
All club members will take the written school level geography quiz. The top
scorers will then finish the school testing with an oral geography bee which will take place
in January. The winner will take a written test which is sent to National Geographic to
determine the top 100 scores in the state of Illinois. If a student earns one of the top 100
scores in the state he/she will go to the National Geographic State Geography Bee. The winner
of the state bee goes to the National Geographic Geography Bee in
Washington DC.
Even if a student is one of the top scorers on the written school test, I
will make the oral bee optional. I want this club to be fun and non-threatening. If someone
wants to join just to learn geography with no stress – so be it!

I look forward to an exciting experience with a great group of students who
love to learn.
