The first trimester is well underway and I am very pleased with the effort
and interest our students display. Some of the questions and comments shared
during classes are thought-provoking and quite good. Keep up your hard
work! Many of our students are learning to study several days before a
chapter test, not only the night before the test.
Our note-taking skills are coming along quite well. I am walking the 6th
graders through the note process, and they are doing a fantastic job. The
7th graders are doing a marvelous job with less guidance than they had when
they were in 6th grade. I do not type the notes. I use the slide
presentation with notes from the textbook company. It seems to be working
quite well. The 8th grade is doing much the same as the 7th graders. They
too are doing a fantastic job writing the important facts. When they get to
high school they should be quite skilled in the notetaking skills. I am
proud of all our students and their eagerness to learn.
Please remember, when you are absent from class, you are responsible for
getting the notes you missed in class. You can usually get them from a
friend. The 7th and 8th graders can take their own notes from the book,
however comparing them with a friend who was in attendance would be a good
idea. Make sure you cover the important concepts that were mentioned in
class.
Keep up the great work!
Mrs. Drabik
