MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR!

This morning, as I attended Mass at St. Joseph's, I listened to Fr. Nathan
share many memories of his young days with his family! He made it clear
that our early years really form our future! How we speak to and treat our
family, relatives and friends can make a big impression on our children.
Family discussions, always done with respect in front of children, help the
young people grow up understanding how important it is to work with the
family God gave us! On this Feast of the Holy Family, may your family be
blessed!

How is your "MULTIPLICATION MANIAC" doing over this break? I hope they are
noticing many different ARRAYS! Looking at these models is a great way TO
SEE how we multiply!

Over the break, I asked them to look around and find arrays! Tell them to
look at these items and make a multiplication sentence out of it!
ex. an egg carton 2 x 6 = 12 OR 6 x 2 - 12
    a loaf of bread 1 x 10 = 10 OR 10 x 1 = 10

I also asked if they could bring one to show us. (This is not mandatory!)
They can look at games they have at home, candy boxes, items you have in your
kitchen, etc. If they find something exciting, please encourage them to show
it to the class when we return. (1 item per person, please)

THEY LOVED OUR LONG BUT EDUCATIONAL MATH DAY before we took the break!
Please talk it up over the time away! We'll take an easy approach to this,
so don't let them get worried about this concept! Have fun with this!

We ended our week with a SECRET READER! Mrs. Yahiro surprised us and read
us "Letters To Santa" written by Mrs. Claus. This delightful book had many
questions from children, sent to Santa, and answered by his lovely wife, Mrs.
Claus! We heard about the reindeer farms and their diet, Santa's life
throughout the year, the magic of flight, and the fun the elves have! The
illustrations were just terrific! Thank you to Mrs. Yahiro for joining us
and sharing this new and exciting book with us!
