School-Wide Theme for 2009 - 2010:
"We Pray for Vocations."
WELCOME TO MRS. KALLBACK'S THIRD GRADE!
I am so proud of your children! Having so many days off for illness was very
tough! However, my subs, Mrs. Scelze and Mrs. Kunzler, told me that the
entire class worked hard for them! They both said that their days were
delightful! These talented teachers asked me to please, call them back,
because YOUR CHILDREN made them feel so welcomed! My wonderful students
worked hard to follow directions, were very productive throughout the day,
and were very friendly and helpful! They also suggested that I give them a
nice thank you / reward for their efforts! WILL DO!
Thank you for turning in those "Staying on Track" forms. Next week is
conference week! I look forward to meeting with you!
PLEASE NOTE: If you need more than 10 minutes time, please let me know and we
can meet this week or the week after, before or after school.
On Thursday we had another "Learn Not To Burn" class with Officer Marsha of
the Downers Grove Fire Department. She spoke about safe practices regarding
electricity and plugs. Please review the checklist with your child so that
you can be sure your home is safe from electrical hazards.
Thursday, we also had a visit from Mrs. Hayes for Art Awareness. We learned
about Salvador Dali. We are creating our own surrealistic pictures. We love
to learn about and do authentic artwork! (Just look at our hallway display!)
We have 5 busy days this week! I need to work on their reading work and
their problem solving in math!
REPORT CARDS are done! I hope you are aware that in third grade, grades are
recorded, throughout each of the 3 terms, on a network website; yes, this
starts in Grade 3 at SMG.
These report card copies will be given out this FRIDAY. I will meet with
your child, first, to show them their grades. Then Fr. John will join us to
present them with their report card, one-on-one. This is an SMG tradition;
the priests come into our rooms and show the students their report cards. We,
in 3rd Grade, like to meet with them first, since this is their first time
receiving letter grades. We feel strongly that "no surprises" is best for our
little ones!
