                        School-Wide Theme for 2009 - 2010:
                            "We Pray for Vocations."

                                 ADVENT IS HERE!
                              We wait for the Lord!

This is the Season of Advent ~ this weekend was the lighting of the
pink candle. It reminds us that we have passed the middle of the Advent
season. In our classroom, we continue to focus on ways we can improve
ourselves during this time of reflection. We have strips of paper for
the students to fill out with their good deeds and self improvements. They
are placing them in a simple manger that we have set up. This is a great way
to work for Jesus in this season of waiting.

Your children performed our Christmas play called "The Big, Big Story" on
Thursday! What a beautiful story of our Lord's birth! So many of you came
to see your child become a part of this wonderful story! Mrs. King video
taped the play and will share it with us soon! We appreciate your
attendance!

Mrs. King sent in the DVD of our play! It was so neat to watch this with
them! KUDOS to Mrs. King for filming the whole play and producing such a
lovely memory for us to share!

We had an exciting day in Math today! I introduced the class to
multiplication! I showed them many ARRAYS! Looking at these models is a
great way TO SEE how we multiply!

Over the break, I asked them to look around and find arrays! Tell them to
look at these items and make a multiplication sentence out of it!
ex. an egg carton 2 x 6 = 12 OR 6 x 2 - 12
    a loaf of bread 1 x 10 = 10 OR 10 x 1 = 10

I also asked if they could bring one to show us. (This is not mandatory!)
They can look at games they have at home, candy boxes, items you have in your
kitchen, etc. If they find something exciting, please encourage them to show
it to the class when we return. (1 item per person, please)

THEY LOVED THIS LONG BUT EDUCATIONAL MATH DAY! Please talk it up over the
time away! We'll take an easy approach to this, so don't let them get
worried about this concept! Have fun with this!

Our Class Christmas Party was a huge success thanks to the organization of
our Room Moms, Mrs. Enochs and Mrs. Albian! We were as busy as Santa's elves
making your gift for you! They turned out delightful! The kids were very
proud of the final product! (I'll keep it a secret, just in case they decide
to wait until Christmas to give it to you!)
We also played a few games that made us move and work with others! The
snacks were GREAT! Thanks for a terrific celebration!

Friday December 18th is 11:30 dismissal! (Where did these 4 months go?)

December Book Reports were due on Tuesday, Dec. 15th! Terrific designs and
artwork are on display for all to read and enjoy!
