Welcome to preschool! The three and four year old classes are academically
structured programs with freedom to explore centers during playtime based on
the individual child‘s ability. When the child enters the classroom, each
child hangs up their belongings in their own cubby located in the
classroom. They find their name on the table and place it in the seasonal
bowl (name recognition). All the children proceed to the table for table
time. Table time is an academic time where the children work on file folder
games including rhyming, opposites, patterning, number recognition and
counting, abc and sound beginning sounds with the teachers and parent
helpers.
During carpet time, we pray, work on months of the year, days of the week,
counting, patterning, seasons, graphing the weather, counting the number of
days in school, monthly songs, weekly sound cans or show and tell, stories,
daily jobs, and reviewing the visual schedule for the day.
The class then has group snack together that a student has brought. We pray
together and thank the child and Ms. Fran for setting our snack up. The
children line up and wash with hand sanitizer. They then proceed to find
their name plate at the table. This provides the opportunity for the
children to sit and socialize by a different friend each day. When they are
done with their snack, they dispose of it in the garbage and proceed to the
reading center to “read” books until all children are finished.
Children then explore the various centers. We have a house, block, puzzle,
reading, typing, doll house, art, writing, and prayer center. The children
may also explore the sensory table too! I add new centers every month or
change/add something to the centers. During this time, the children will be
called over in small groups of 4 to create a craft at the tables with the
teachers.
After center/play time, the class will have music, religion, or play a game
depending on the day.

Fours meet M/Tues/W and threes on Thursday/Friday.
