Field Trips

The 4th & 3rd grade students will attend a presentation at the Roden Branch of the Chicago Public Library on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. This presentation will be until 11:00 or 11:15 a.m. We will walk, with chaperones, to the Roden Branch on Northwest Highway. We will then walk back to school in time for lunch. The presenter will be Lynn Rymarz who will portray the life of the brilliant scientist, Maria Sklodowska-Curie. The presentation is titled Discover Madame Curie: A Science Hero . There is no cost to the parents or school. Your children will learn biographical facts about Madame Curie integrating social studies, art/drama, science and reading. It's a wonderful opportunity offered to your students and funded by the city of Chicago. Thank you.

The 4th & 6th grade students participated in a hands-on art activitiy with Ms.Bernadette Foch at the Chicago Public Library, Roden Branch, on Thursday May 28, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. As you know, the library is located on Northwest Highway and the phone # is: 312-744-1478. The students benefited greatly from this enriching hands-on lesson and activity. There was no fee for our students or for St. Thecla. Funding was provided by the City of Chicago. Thank you.

This was a wonderful presentation of amazing science. The students had fun and learned many concepts.

The 4th and 6th grade students will walk to the Roden Branch:Chicago Public Library on Northwest Highway on Monday April 20, 2009. This Amazing Science Demonstration will be from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. Mrs. Huber and I, Mrs. Leahy, will accompany the students from school to the library and back to school. There will also be one parent chaperone from each classroom. Fourth grade students will wear their gym uniforms for the entire day. The presentation is free to the students as it is sponsored by the City of Chicago. Please do NOT order hot lunch on Friday February 13, 2009 because the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade students will attend a performance of Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. Each student should bring a home lunch, drink and snack on this field trip. Students should wear their St. Thecla school uniforms. Thank you.

The field trip to the Chicago Architecture Foundation for the 3rd &.4th grade students is Tuesday April 29, 2008 . School lunch was cancelled for the 3rd & 4th graders, so lunch from home is required for the field trip please. Thank you.
