Why St. Thecla is Special to Me
My name is L. N. K. I attend St. Thecla School and it's in Chicago, Illinois. The grade I started here at St. Thecla School was Preschool. There are so many things I like about this school because it's very fun and active. I also like St. Thecla because my friends are here. St. Thecla is also very special to me because I had many memories here like my Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and I still have much more to accomplish. I had a lot of fun with our skyscraper project. My teacher gave us partners to work with. My partner was K. M. We did the Two Prudential Plaza skyscraper. I have two older borthers. Their names are M. and R. M. is in sixth grade. He plays basketball and baseball. R. is in eighth grade. He is vice-president in the Student Council and likes soccer and karate. He decided to go to Notre Dame High School. I really look up to my brothers! I also like this school because the teachers and principal are all great! That's why I like St. Thecla!
SKYSCRAPER GROUP PROJECT REFLECTION
I learned a lot about my skyscraper, the Fordham Spire! It will be the tallest building in the nation and it's 2,000 feet tall counting the tip. It's going to have a five-star rating and it's going to be very expensive. I also learned how to work with other people and we also looked up information on the internet. We had a lot of fun with our skyscraper! S. J.
Dear S. You are about to be in 4th grade. It is really cool in this grade. My favorite projects were the torso and skyscrapers. You will like and maybe even love 4th grade. The skyscrapers are very fun and the torso is very hard to do. You have to color deep and rich colors. Congrats on becoming a 4th grader! I hope you like 4th grade. If you get dowtime in 4th grade, you get to talk but have to stay in your seat. I hope you like 4th grade and have a great time there. Have a great summer and maybe I will see you over vacation. From, A.
Dear K. How are you doing? In fourth grade you are going to do all kinds of things like projects and experiments! Mrs. Leahy is really fun! My favorite project was the skyscraper! You are going to do things like the skyscrapers, diamond legs and the last book report, you make a model of an invention. There are a lot of things and Mrs. Leahy makes them very fun and exciting. Mrs. Leahy helps you if you need help. Sometimes she does funny things. First you get your work done. Next, read your book. Last, something funny might happen and experiments might also happen! From, S.
Dear Mrs. S., We are learning a lot of great things. We learn math; it is my favorite subject. Some of my favorite projects were solo and group projects. The individual project was the torso. It was when we made our arms and stomach out of cardboard and legs and feet on paper. It was hard work, but fun. The group project was fun; we made a skyscraper. My partner was R. L. All the other groups had more people. We made the Aon Center. It was great because we got to display them at the library. Mrs. Leahy is so nice! Hope you have a great time! From, R.
Dear V., I know you will like being in fourth grade V. In fourth grade we do many fun projects. Some projects are group and some are individual projects. The project names are: haiku, torso, our names in hieroglyphics, 3-D self-images, skyscrapers and many, many cards. We learned harder double digit multiplication, triple digit multiplication, division and adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions. From, P.
Dear E., In 4th grade you are going to do a Chicago skyscraper, torso and a lot of other arts and crafts. You will learn fractions and more. Congrats, you're almost a 4th grader! Some things like the skyscrapers are pair-share but the torso is an individual project. My favorite things in 4th grade were the skyscrapers and writing my name in hieroglyphics. My least favorite thing is nothing. Have a good time in 4th grade. Your friend, C. . Dear S., Fourth grade is a creative room. We did a lot by ourselves and in groups. We did torsos, skyscrapers and a picture of Crazy Horse. By ourselves, we made self 3-D faces. It took a lot of hard work but it looked great. My favorite thing by myself, was my 3-D face and my favorite group project was the skyscraper. My partner was S. R. It also takes a lot of hard work, but like the 3-D face, but also we throught it looked very good. Your friend, Erin |
