About The Teacher
Mr. Berlage has been teaching Math and English at Steinmetz Academic Centre for almost five years. Originally from Virginia, Mr. Berlage moved to Chicago in 1998 working for the software industry as a technical writer and trainer. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree from George Mason University in Virginia and his Masters Degree from Northeastern Illinois University. When he is not taking care of his demanding cat, Mr. Berlage's hobbies include biking and teaching swimming, traveling and reading.

Mission
Mr. Berlage believes that it is important to empower his students a strong sense of self-worth and self-responsibility for their actions and education. The mission of this class is to develop problem solving skills to be used inside and outside the mathematics classroom and develop a connection between the material we are studying and real life situations. As students, you will also be improving your test-taking, reading and writing skills, as well as confidence in your own mathematical ability.
