MAKEUP ASSIGNMENT
FOR THE WEEK:
(These are assignments that can be used to help augment a low quiz grade or make up for a missing bellringer grade.)

Extra Credit Option #1

Get a copy of the school newspaper.  Read the article entitled "Ceremony Should Be for All Graduates" on page 2.  Write a 3-5 paragraph response to the article, directly referencing information that the journalist reported.  Indicate whether or not you agree with all of the information that is stated.  You may also include other factors that the writer did not include.

Extra Credit Option #2

Read the articles about all the staff members who are retiring this year.  Select two.  You are going to write a letter to each of those staff members, whether you knew them well or not.  You may respond to information in the article, relate a specific incident or experience that you had with this person or wish them well.  Again, you MUST reference information that was in the article, and you MUST write TWO letters.  Each letter should be 3-5 paragraphs long, and although they need not be typed, they must be NEAT.  Not only will I be reading them, but they will as well - so think carefully about the person to whom you are writing and what you want to say.

Both extra credit assignments are due on Friday, May 25th or sooner.
