Hello parents, students, and community members! Welcome to Ms. Zelman's
website. I am glad you are visiting this site to learn more about my
classroom, Waterbury, and me.
I have been teaching third grade at Waterbury since March, 2003. I love
teaching third grade and every year I am eager to see what I can learn from
my students. I value learning from others; the students and I learn from
each other, and I, personally get many ideas from teachers and parents.
Every day is a new growing experience for students, parents, and teachers
alike.
Before I began at Waterbury, I was an Inclusion Assistant in Lombard,
Illinois and a Residential Treatment Specialist in Normal, Illinois. Both
positions provided me with the opportunity to work with children with
physical, mental, and social disabilities. These experiences taught me a
great deal about creating a safe and successful environment for all students
by encouraging them to reach their highest level of ability. This is
something I live by in my classroom now. I hope everyone will join me in
making this a priority in my classroom and at Waterbury.
Although teaching is a priority in my life, my family is just as important.
I grew up and still live in West Chicago. My family is close with my
father, his wife, my mother, sister, grandparents, aunt, uncle, and cousins
all living within a two mile radius of my son and me. I have an older
brother who had a baby girl on August 8, 2005, and a younger sister who is
getting married in October of 2009. However, the light of my life is my baby
boy born on January 12, 2006. He is three-years-old (whomever said it was
the terrible twos to look out for was incorrect), and I love to spend every
minute with him. All of my family is very important to me and I love them
dearly.
Well, that's me! I look forward to learning about you as well. Please call
me at any time and I will be glad to help in any way. Thank you for
visiting my website.
