Dear Parents and Friends, It's the time of year when we celebrate the cultural diversity of our students and put Waterbury school "on the map" by making global connections. Here are the exciting events that we will be working on and looking forward to at school over the next couple of months.International Club Our first grade students are excited to participate in International Club. Beginning on Monday, March 11th, students who return their permission slips will meet during lunch with Miss Berry and Mrs. Sierka in the ELL room to participate in an intercultural exchange with students in New Zealand. The project includes: * Creating individual student biographies. * Developing a group email to our friends abroad. * Skype call (Thursday, March 21 @ 3:00- permission slip must be returned to participate) * Participating in a care package exchange to share drawings, candies, coins and small toysMs. Wazydrag's fourth grade students are also participating in International Club. They are corresponding with a classroom in Russia. You may contact her at mwazydrag@esd20.org with any questions. International Week- Potluck DinnerThis year's International Week will take place April 8-12. We invite all parents of current and former ELL students to attend our potluck dinner and multicultural talent show. This year's dinner will begin at 6:30 on Thursday, April 11. We ask that parents bring a dish that is representative of your family's culture to share. Please make enough food to serve about 12-15 people. Also, please mark what type of dish it is and which ingredients are included (for allergy and dietary restriction purposes). It is amazing to see how many different cultures are represented at this dinner!**The following pieces of information have been sent home with students.
