Field Trip- I was just informed that we will not be going to the Shedd on the 24th but rather on the 17th which is much sooner. We are waiting approval from the Board of Education before we send home any permission slips.

Valentine’s Day- I apologize for the confusion, we only have 3 days of class next week and therefore will have our Valentine’s Day celebration on Wednesday the 10^th at 2:00pm.

Language Arts: We are on, lesson 16 in students reading curriculum.  Our focus is on setting and story structure. Our phonics activities include the consonants Ll and Hh. Our high frequency words are; one and see.  I have completed assessing student’s literacy progress using DIBELS, you will receive your child’s results along with their report card on Wednesday.

 
Writing: We continue to write in our daily journals. We will re-visit the seasons and continue to write about the weather with a focus on complete sentences and proper punctuation. If you have not sent in a new notebook for our daily journaling, please do so, any color is fine.

Math: We will continue to explore the number five and practice counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10.s.  We will also begin our study of shapes.

Science: Our iguana encounter prompted our discussion on reptiles so Ms. Eleanor surprised us with a quick viewing of a tortoise last week. Please ask your child about this experience. We will continue using our Foss Science Kit to explore the weather and air.

Pencils: We are running low on pencils, please send in only yellow #2.
