Updated October 8, 2009:
Please look for information regarding math fact homework practice in your
child's folder today. In addition to reading 20 minutes a night, beginning
tomorrow (October 9), your child should also practice triangle flashcards for
5 minutes a night. A math facts log will be due every Friday, along with the
reading log.
The first set of flashcards coming home provides a great opportunity to
practice the "counting on" addition strategy. We use counting on when adding
numbers 1, 2, or 3. For example, for 3+6, your child should start with 6 and
count on 3 more: "7, 8, 9" to get the answer 9.
Flashcards will be coming home throughout the year. Please keep them together
in a safe place.
Updated September 25, 2009:
Gold House Assembly dates (so your child knows when to wear his/her gold
t-shirt) and report card dates have been added to the "calendar" link on the
left.
We will be taking a field trip to Apple Holler on October 21st. Please have
your child dress for the weather and in play clothes! Also be sure to pack
your child a sack lunch. $8.00 cash for the field trip is due by Tuesday,
October 6th.
Updated September 15, 2009:
Party money is due by Friday, October 2. Please send $5.00 cash in an
envelope with your child's name, my name, and the words "party money."

The Library will be closed for MAP testing beginning Monday, September 14 and

there will be NO student check-out. Please visit your local public library
during this time.
Updated August 26, 2009:
Welcome to a brand new school year!
Because students will be going directly from art to gym this year, you DO NOT
NEED TO SEND IN AN ART SMOCK. Students will wear their gym shirts for art.
If you sent in an art smock, I will be sending it home.
"Seeds of Summer" Watermelon Reading logs are due no later than Thursday,
September 3. If it is turned in later, your child will not be able to
participate in the watermelon party. (This is only for students who attended
Woodland last year.)
We currently have 25 students (and 1 teacher) in the class. Please keep this
in mind, especially when sending in birthday treats as a lot of things come
in packs that are multiples of 24.
