Mr. Lakemacher is in his eighth year of teaching at Woodland Middle School.
He is a graduate of Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois
(BA in Elementary Education) and Aurora University (MA in Educational
Leadership). An avid lover of all things history and politics, Mr. Lakemacher
strives to make his classroom a fun, exciting, and current place for learning
about United States History and the U.S. Constitution. Mr. Lakemacher also
coaches soccer and 6th/7th grade girls' volleyball at WMS.
The seventh grade social studies curriculum consists of a broad study of
United States history from Native Americans and European exploration through
Civil War Reconstruction and western settlement (1500s - 1880s). Along the
way, students will be completing an extensive U.S. Constitution Unit, doing
mock trials, recreating battles, holding a geography bee, participating in
mock elections, creating art projects, writing papers, and doing research to
supplement the material covered. Special emphasis on geography, economics,
political science, and current events will be incorporated throughout the year.
