About The Teacher
My name is Kelly Shiffer. This is my fifth year at Woodland Primary. I spent my first 4 years teaching in a kindergarten classroom. This year, however, I began my new role as the Library Media Specialist. I'm really excited to get to know each and every student that walks though our library doors. We are going to have a lot of fun learning about literature and how a library functions. On a personal note, I was born and raised just outside of Flint, Michigan and have been living in Illinois for 8 years. I am married to a wonderful man, named Tyler, who is currently stationed in upstate New York serving in the United States Army. We have 2 dogs, Ducati and Wrigley (my husband is clearly a Cubs fan). Ducati (a.k.a. Duke) lives here with me and Wrigley lives in NY with my husband. I received my Elementary Education Bachelor's degree through Southern Illinois University and my Reading and Literacy Master's degree at Benedictine University. I am currently taking classes at the College of Lake County to receive my Library Information Specialist endorsement. In addition, I have a Reading Specialist certificate as well as state endorsements in Social Sciences, General Science, and Language Arts.
