Some spelling assignments may ask students to use the Spelling Dictionary 
to find a definition.  Students may use any dictionary available.  If you 
would like to borrow a spelling book to use, that would be fine as well.

Spelling words will be sent home on Friday.  Dictation sentences will also be 
sent.  The first 2 pages of the spelling pack are due Tuesday.  The last 2 
pages are due Friday.  There will be a note on the packet with the specific 
page numbers each week.  On this sheet your child will also write their words 
and dictation sentences for extra practice and so that they have them all 
week.

Second grade students should practice their spelling words, dictation 
sentences and math facts at home each night.  This leads to better retention 
and more efficient use of study time.

Reading time at home counts for Read-a- Thon.  Just fill out a sheet from 
the library to participate.  More sheets are available in the library.
 
Our reading goal for the class is 10 Accelerated Reader points by January 
20th.
