About The Teacher
My name is Brian Waddle and I will be entering my second year as a 4th grade teacher at FRA. I served under veteran teacher Judy Tomera in first grade at FRA during the 2007-08 school year. Before joining the wonderful staff at FRA, I was a sports writer at The Times of Northwest Indiana for seven years, and at The Herald in Jasper, Indiana for three others. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Indiana State University. I went on to receive my teaching certification from Calumet College of St. Joseph's in 2006. I am excited for the 2009-10 school year because we go on some wonderful field trips. We start the year on a two-night, three-day trip to Camp Tecumseh where we study pioneer life. We will also go to the Dunes on an overnight science trip in April. We will visit the Swedish-American Museum in Chicago, where we get to "dress up" and play the role of an immigrant on their way to America. Our final field trip of the year is our annual trip to Conner Prairie, where we will get a lesson on the Civil War. Kids will get to see a cannon fired off and ask Abraham Lincoln all kinds of questions. You might even be picked to type a message on the telegraph! I look forward to the incoming fourth graders at FRA! I know all of them because of our close-knit family here. I'm excited to get started. See you soon!
