Material for 2nd grade is presented in the form of a book,workbook, notebook, handouts, videos, songs, dance, games, use of puppets, and verbal communication. Additionally, when the children have field trips/special events, the vocabulary learned will reflect their event.
In 2nd grade the program becomes more structured. The children will learn to read, write and speak in simple sentences. The themes learned this year are: school items, class materials, places in school, the family, the home, furniture in the home, the seasons, the calendar, the time, a birthday party, and vacation time.
The overall goal for 2nd grade students is that, at the end of the year, most of the children will be able read, write, pronounce, translate as well as make up their own simple sentences.
