I am Sue Troppman and I will be the FRA Librarian this year. I would
like to give you some information about myself so that you may be more
familiar with my qualifications and plans for this year.
Education
*Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, Indiana University
*Master of Science Degree in Elementary Education, Purdue Universiy
Career Highlights
*Librarian at Forest Ridge Academy for nine years
*Elementary Teacher for four years
*Substitute Teacher for grades Kgn.-4th gr., Library/Media Centers, and
Remedial Reading (ten yrs.)
*Member of The American Library Association
Future Plans
*Attend seminars for professional growth
*Create a Resource Center atmosphere through interesting displays and
library classes
*Read aloud children's literature in connection with a particular topic
(animals, pioneers, rainforest, for ex.); also units highlighting a
particular children's author) This is followed by related activities or
crafts.
*Provide read alouds and related activities for the Young Scholars
*Continue participation in the Young Author's Program
*Expand the Accelerated Reader Program
*Teach library skills appropriate for grades Jr.Kgn.-5th gr.
*Present "Book Talks" to the Middle-Schoolers
*Provide "new book" reviews on the FRA Website
*Continue to read and discuss award-winning and classic literature with
students
*Provide a special program for National Children's Book Week in November
*Have special activities for National Library Week in April
*Hold the Scholastic Book Fair in April
