Look what you have to look forward to this year!! Space Camp Day 1

Arrival

We arrived at Space Camp on
schedule. The flight was on time
and smooth. The kids were great
in the airport and all enjoyed a
continental breakfast of bagels
or cinnabons. Upon arriving at
the Huntsville Airport we were
met by space personnel who helped
us retrieve our luggage, and then
loaded all of us onto a space bus
shuttle to camp. In the
background of this picture you
see the space habitat where the
children will be living for the
next five days.

Do Not Enter!!!

As you can see not all is
serious. The girls are having
fun trying to enter a place that
they are not supposed to. Okay,
they really were just posing for
the picture.

Dinner

After unpacking and making their
beds, the counselors sat all of
the campers down and laid out all
of the rules. It was then time
for dinner. All of the students
agreed that they enjoyed the
food.

1/6 gravity chair

After dinner, the students
experienced the 1/6 gravity
chair. This is a simulation that
helps the children experience
what it would be like to walk on
the moon. They all thought this
was great fun! I'm sorry the
pictures are a little blurry, but
my camera does not take good
action shots.

WOW!

Looks like great fun, doesn't
it? Don't you wish they had this
available when you were young??

The children are doing this
activity late in the evening.
It's hard to believe that they
still have this much energy after
having gotten up so early in the
morning.

She's doing the bunny hop---one
of the ways the astronauts were
taught to walk on the moon.

The children are listening
attentively to their evening
counselor, Casey. I will post
more pictures later---It's
difficult for me to post
everybody's picture daily, but if
you did not see your child today--
you will tomorrow.
