Space Camp Day 3

Ejection

Today the boys and girls were
introduced to aviation
challenge. Their first step was
to learn all it takes to eject
from a fighter jet safely. It
was fun for them to each try on a
parachute and to realize how
heavy it actually was.

Fight

The students were then shown the
steps of "take off and landing".
After being debriefed they got
the chance to execute their
skills. They were quite
surprised to see how many
controls the jets actually had
that needed to be controlled.

So many controls--so many things
to remember in order to land
safely. Okay, most of them
crashed at least once.

Discovery Mission

The students practiced their
mission today. Pictured here is
the pilot of the mission. Each
of the students received a job
that they have to complete. The
big challenge is that they have
to work as a team to successfully
complete their mission. Today
they practiced--tommorrow is
their actual mission time.

Scientist

The scientists have to complete
an experiment in space.

Scientists

These are our scientists---they
do appear to work together well.

Mission Control

Meet the members of mission
control.
Their job is to safely guide the
shuttle into space and of course
to give the correct instructions
to guide them safely back to
earth. Oh dear, wish them luck---
we do want to see our shuttle
crew again!!

Apollo

The students were debriefed today
about the Apollo Mission. Here
you see them pictured
experiencing what the Apollo
astronauts felt like being in
their small capsule.
