I would like to brief everyone about Grandparents' Day at this time. The guests should plan to arrive at 9:30, with the show beginning at 10:00 in the gym. The show should conclude around 11:15, and the raffle drawing will take place upon completion of the finale. Please make sure your child knows how many grandparents will attend on that day because we will have copies of a special poem for them. Also, please inform your child regarding dismissal so that they already know who is taking them from school on that day. For the show, Mrs. Ciastko has asked that fifth grade wear jeans, a white, short-sleeved shirt, and gym shoes.
This week there will be a short social studies quiz on Tuesday over lessons three through five of the current chapter; we will also be ready for a brief reading quiz over The Witch of Blackbird Pond on Wednesday. We will complete our usual vocab/spelling tests and a social studies test (over the entire chapter) on Friday. This week will also mark the beginning of a new adventure in our room. We will each choose an environmental issue for which we can take a firm stand; students will research this topic and write a persuasive piece,convincing others to join their cause. Although we have done many written pieces this year, this will be the most lengthy and the first one that must be a typed final product. Have a great week!!!
