Sketchbook May 2/May 3 Due May 9/May 10
Draw the most amazing or random sandwich that you have ever seen or can imagine. This sandwich can have just about anything you desire. You will need to color the sandwich (the bread can stay white) and color your background also. Your sandwich will probably be on a plate or table of some sort…unless this happens to be a magical sandwich…………J

Industrial Design
Industrial designers are always striving to make even the most basic items better. The bicycle of today works the same way it did 100 years ago, but that doesn’t stop anyone from continuing to make it better.(from the book “Creative Stuff”) Draw a bicycle re-designed. Make sure to add at least 3 new things. Color your bicycle and your whole background. Remember to push your imagination past your “normal limits”J

Draw how a tyrannosaurus rex would see their environment. Think about how tall a t-rex is in comparison to objects such as trees, plants, and other animals. Make sure to color your background and any objects you draw.

Design a house in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright. Frank Lloyd Wright was an architect back in the early 1900s. His style was the most modern and advanced for his time. You will only need to design the outside of the house and you will need to have a background.

Melting Objects
Draw an object or multiple objects melting. Make a small drawing of how the object originally looked and then have a bigger drawing of the melting in progress.
Your object should be colored as well as your whole background.

Shape Design
Take the half sheet of shapes given to you to create something new out of them. You will need to use at least half of the shapes to create something new. Glue or tape the shapes into your sketchbook. You will need to color the shapes and your whole background. Have fun!

Your Inner Dr. Seuss
Look through some of your favorite Dr. Seuss books for inspiration.
You are going to create a drawing based on the style of Dr. Seuss without copying Dr. Seuss.
Pay attention to the details of the building and characters.
Color in your drawing and your whole background.

Paint Blots
1. In class we will create the paint blots.
2. On your own, you will have to make the paint blots into something. This something can be an animal, person, object, monster, alien….I think you get the drift.J

Rube Goldberg Machines

2. You will create your own Rube Goldberg machine in your sketchbook.
3. Color your whole background, but your machine may be too detailed to be colored in.

1. Draw yourself as you would appear as a superhero.
2. Highlight one of your superpowers somehow in your drawing.
3. Your superhero must be colored in and the whole background should be colored in also.

Sketchbook 1-25/1-26 Due 2-1/2-2 4th, 5th, and 6th
This week, you are going to draw your idea of paradise.
Let your imagination take you someplace that you have always wanted to be.
Make sure that you color your objects and your whole background.

1. Design a “how to” poster. This can be an everyday task OR make up something new that you need to instruct people on.J
2. There should be at least 4 steps to whichever process you choose.
3. The poster should have a very interesting design and colors that relevant to the task being described.
4. Writing should be neat and fit in well with design of the poster.
5. The background should be colored in all the way.

1. We will be drawing monsters this week. This is not your typical monster though. This monster will be morphed from another animal.
2. You need to choose an animal to morph into a monster. Draw how this animal would look when morphed into a monster.
3. You will need to color in your new monster and you entire background.

Mystery Color
1. You will choose an animal that you like to draw.
2. You will draw a color in class and that is the main color (lights and darks) that you will use in your assignment.
3. You should color in the animal and the whole background.
Sketchbook 1-11/1-12 Due 1-18/1-19 4th, 5th, and 6th
1. Pick a number or a letter to draw big in the center of your sketchbook page.
2. You will need to turn this letter or number into an animal or a person.
3. Make sure your new number or letter is colored along with your whole background.

Illuminated Letters
1. Use your favorite letter. It can be one of your initials or any letter you want.
2. Draw this letter in a bubble/block style.
3. Start decorating this letter with different designs.
4. You will need to have a background – either a solid color or a design of some sort.
5. If you need some examples, the best way to find a bunch is to Google illuminated letters. Please do not copy!! If anything, pull bits and pieces of different examples into your design.

Sketchbook Assignment January 4 and 5thDue January 11thand 12th
1. Decorate the cover of your sketchbook! The front cover must be decorated and the back cover is optional to decorate.
2. Things to use:
a. Markers, colored pencils, crayons
b. Newspaper, wrapping paper, fabric, ribbons, buttons
c. Magazines….or anything you can think of! Please nothing that will rub off!
3. Your name and homeroom must be on the front cover and the inside of the back cover. (In case the front cover happens to come off) It is very difficult to give a grade on a sketchbook when your name is not present!
4. Have fun!J
