My name is Matt Carey and I am going to be starting my 14th year of
teaching. I have been at G.S.S. since 1997. I have lived in Evansville
since 1988. I attended North High School and after graduating in 1991, I
went on to Indiana University to pursue my undergraduate degree in Secondary
Education. I graduated from I.U. in 1995 and moved back to Evansville to
start my teaching career. I spent two years teaching at W.C.C.S. and then
came over to Good Shepherd where I have been since. In 2003, I graduated
from the University of Southern Indiana with a Master’s Degree in Secondary
Education. In the fall of every school year, I wear two hats so to speak.
I am also a varsity football coach at North High School where I have been
coaching in some capacity for over 13 years.
My wife Shelly and I live on the East side of Evansville with our two
daughters Alexandria who is 17 and Abrianna who is 6. We have two dogs Levi
and Libby who spend most of their days laying in the sun and playing guard
dog.
There are three things in this world that I love besides my family and
teaching and that is I.U. Basketball, Notre Dame Football, and Star Wars
Movies. When I am not at work and actually have some free time, you can bet
I am probably doing something related to one of these three topics.
Your mission is to be curious always! For knowledge will not aquire you;
you must aquire it.
