Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to commonly asked
questions of students and parents.

  2. What happens if I can not access my child's grades online?
  3. What does a blank mean in my child's grammar grades online?

Is there any extra credit available to raise my grammar grade?

Yes, this year we will have an opportunity to write to both
former students at GSS who have been deployed to Iraq and
Afghanistan as well as some other soldiers whose families have
requested our support. Their mailing addresses are posted on my
web under the icon, "Adopt our Soldiers" as soon as their
families send them to me. Students may write to them and receive
100 additional classwork points for each letter they submit.
There is a limit of 1 correspondence to each soldier per grading
period.
The students are also able to write letters to an Iraqi
family that has recently come to live in the US. See my "We Are
Called" section for more information about this family.

What happens if I can not access my child's grades online?

If you have difficulty getting into your child's online grades,
please contact Mr. Schuler. I make every effort to get my papers
and tests graded and posted as soon as I can so they can be sent
to the online gradebook. If you continue to have problems, please
let me know as well. It is our intention that you should have
frequent weekly updates on your child's grades in all classes
each week. Thank you for your patience as we continue to deal
with the occasional technological "glitch" in this process!

What does a blank mean in my child's grammar grades online?

Blanks are not computed into an average in grammar. Blanks
indicate that at least 1 student in your child's class received
a "0" for not turning in the homework for credit. Unfortunately,
I can not isolate just one student for this grade, so the listing
is included for all students in the class. Note the heading of HW
or homework, and this will tell you that it was a homework
assignment that was not turned in during class.
If the heading is CW or classwork, your child will probably be
making up the work due to absence. If it is a test, your child
will also make up the test once he/she is back in class.
