We have some wonderful news regarding Noor and her family, thanks to
the efforts of two very special daughters, Jody, Mrs. Murray's older
daughter, and Marissa, my daughter! These two young women met in high school
at Castle. Jody is currently living in the Indianapolis area and was able
to send some information to Marissa about contacts with the Exodus
organization that is very active in assisting refugees with their
resettlement in the US. In the meantime, Marissa was able to talk with a
director at the Lutheran organization in Silver Spring who had no idea that
Noor and her family had arrived in the US! Apparently their case manager
had quit, and no one knew about their situation. So they finally have some
assistance from the local organization in Maryland and are already enrolled
in several programs to help Noor get her pharmacy license in the US and
provide ESL classes for Hayder, so they can get ready to apply for jobs.
Noor faithfully writes back to our students, and they are enjoying her
letters. She is looking forward to coming here to meet them in the near
future.
We are getting ready to mail some Christmas stockings and a few
presents to Noor and her family. If you would like to send a small wrapped
gift or make a donation, please drop it off at the school office or Room 108
by December 11th. This will be their first Christmas in their new country,
so we hope to make it very special for them. Gift cards are always
appreciated because Noor and Haider can save them and use them whenever they
need something. The best gift cards for them to use are Walmart and Target
gift cards since these stores are closest to where they live.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Herrin at ext. 108. Again,
thank you for your generosity and help with this very important Christian
outreach ministry.
Happy Holidays to all,
Mrs. Herrin
