Science Grades 6-8 Mrs. Hirsch I Textbook The sixth, seventh, and eighth grade textbooks are integrated. Each grade level will have all major areas of science included in their books. II Grades The grading system for science will consist of three components. There will be a separate average for homework, labs, and tests. The final grade for the quarter will be those three combined into one average. III Homework Science homework will be assigned two or three days a week. In most cases it is due the next day. Students are given the opportunity to begin in class when I can assist. If homework is not turned in the day it is due, a notice will be issued. Late work or copies of workbook pages are not accepted. It is the student's responsibility to keep track of work. IV Attendance Students should "check in" the day they return from an absence to get any missed work. Students are expected to make up tests they day they return. Special consideration may be made for those missing several days. Some lab activities cannot be made up due to perishables used and other circumstances. Attendance, therefore is necessary to receive all teacher- student interaction. V Expectations Respect everyone and their property. Students should have their textbook, notebook, and a pencil every class. If a student is not prepared for class, he/she has the opportunity to "sign- out" to get items from his/her locker. Each sign-put after three results in a notice. Each quarter is a fresh start. Feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns. You can reach me at school by phone (476-4477 Ext. 112 ) or email (shirsch@gsparish.org).
